Two Indian players have won World Series of Poker gold bracelets and $150,637 (9.69m Rupees) in the $1,000 Tag Team No Limit Hold’em event.
Aditya Sushant and Nipun Java beat a host of other poker teams in the multi-player poker event and will split the $150K prize between them.
Java, who resides in the US, met India resident Sushant in America and the two Indian-born poker players became fast friends. Java has won over $2 million playing poker both live and online.
“Poker is booming in India,” he said, explaining that he and Sushant are part of a large group of Indian players attending the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this summer.
“[Winning this event is an] amazing feeling. I’m so happy I was with a fellow Indian.”

WSOP $1,000 Tag Team: as it happened
The Tag Team event at the WSOP allowed players to compete in teams of two to four players throughout the tournament.
This meant that different players could play at different stages, the only rules being that each player had to play at least one round.
The Indian team beat Pablo Mariz and David Guay for the first prize and WSOP bracelets, but they topped a total field of 843 entries.
An unbelievable final hand
Sushant had the honour and glory of finishing off the tournament for the pair – only because Java needed to use the bathroom!
Java tagged in his teammate, who was dealt As-8h and faced an all-in bet from his opponent. He was up against Ks-Qd, giving him a roughly 60% chance to win.
However, the flop fell Qs-Qc-3c, putting the Indian team down to a roughly 1% chance.
Both the turn and river, however, were aces, giving them a higher full house and the top prize.
