What a huge weekend we have in store in the Premier League. The bottom two kick things off on Friday Night as Norwich face Watford then on Saturday we see third place Leicester facing fifth placed Arsenal in what is a massive game in terms of potential Champions League places at the end of the season.
However, that pales when compared to what is on offer on Sunday afternoon as Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield, with the Reds looking for a win over their title rivals that would open up a nine-point gap in the title race. However, a win for City would cut Liverpool’s lead to just three points in the run up to the busy Christmas period of games.

Let’s now take a look at how we see this weekend’s Premier League games going, starting with Friday night’s bottom of the table clash at Carrow Road.
Premier League Matchday 12
Norwich City v Watford (Friday, 8pm)
The bottom two teams in the Premier League clash with one thing on their minds, three points and the chance to close the worrying gap developing between the bottom three and the rest of the Premier League. Watford are yet to win a game this season and I haven’t seen any real evidence to suggest that will end here. Norwich are always going to struggle defensively away from home but I feel at home against Watford, they should be able to pick up the win at 31/20.
Chelsea v Crystal Palace (12.30pm)
Can Chelsea, who are the form team in the Premier League over the last five games, continue their much better run of recent form with a London derby win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Palace have produced their best against the top sides in recent seasons but I think Chelsea’s young side have so much pace and energy that most teams find them daunting to play against. I can see that being the case here and I am backing Chelsea to pick up the win at 1/3.
Burnley v West Ham United
Two sides whose recent form has been poor meet at Turf Moor in what is a game that both teams will feel will be a chance to kick start their season. West Ham have been very disappointing after a decent run of results as they have just fell away. Burnley have also not been at their best in their last three games and as such, I feel both sides may well feel a draw to stop the rot, at odds of 5/2, may well be a satisfactory result here.
Newcastle United v Bournemouth
Both these teams picked up great wins last week with Newcastle earning a fine win at West Ham while Bournemouth defeated Manchester United at home to move to 7th in the table. Both sides have tightened up defensively of late, especially Bournemouth, and I can see this game being a very tight one and in truth, I think a 0-0 draw is a very likely outcome. Hence I am backing the draw here at 12/5.
Southampton v Everton
Can Southampton rediscover their best form after a battling performance against Man City last weekend? They need a big performance to win over their fans after their last home mauling by Leicester City and Everton, who have been in poor form themselves could be the ideal opponent. A win for Southampton would move them level on points with Everton and I just feel that this could be a game that they are well motivated for. Back Southampton to win at 2/1.
Tottenham Hotspur v Sheffield United

Can Tottenham rediscover their winning form at home against one of the two best defence in the Premier League. Sheffield United’s sixth place has been built on a rock solid defence and they are sure to give Spurs a few conundrums to solve here. However, I think with the quality Spurs have in their squad, they should be capable of picking up the win against the Blades at odds of 4/7.
Leicester City v Arsenal (5.30pm)
Third meets fifth at the King Power Stadiunm in what could be a huge game in terms of Champions League places come the end of the season. A Win for Leicester would move them nine points clear of Arsenal, while a win for the Gunners would see them cut that gap to three. However, for me, Leicester are very much the team in form and I think they have the quality to get a very strong result here against an Arsenal side somewhat in disarray. Back Leicester to win at even money.
Wolves v Aston. Villa (Sunday, 2pm)
A Midlands derby makes for an interesting and highly competitive start to Sunday’s games as Wolves face Aston Villa at Molineux. Both sides will be looking to improve after slow starts to the season and with just two points between the teams, it looks like being a very close game. Tempers can flare in these derby games, so whoever keeps their head may well prevail and I fancy Wolves extra experience to be vital here and for them to land the win at 5/6.
Manchester United v Brighton (Sunday, 2pm)
After a defeat on the south coast last week to Bournemouth, Manchester United face another southern side in Brighton, but this time at Old Trafford. Brighton lie above United in the table after a solid start to the season under Graham Potter and I can see them pushing United hard here. The home side do have some players coming back from injury to help them out, but I do see Brighton causing them problems on the counter. Even so, I am still backing United to win this one narrowly at 11/20.
Liverpool v Manchester City (Sunday, 4.30pm)
Will Liverpool open up a nine-point gap on Manchester City, will the gap remain at six points, or can City cut it to three? It may just be the 12th game of the season but there is still plenty riding on the outcome of the clash between the top two at Anfield. It is worth remembering that Liverpool have dropped just two points all season and their never-say-die attitude has seen them come through some tough tests. City have been brilliant at times but also erratic and despite winning the Community Shield between the two on penalties, Liverpool bossed the majority of that game. At home, I fancy Liverpool to take the win at 17/10.
