Last weekend was a special one in Premier League history as between the ten games played, we saw a record number of goals scored in the competition. 44 goals were scored in those games (and it could have been more but for two missed penalties) in what was a weekend where the attackers certainly seemed to enjoy the upper hand over the defenders.
We also saw Manchester City, Manchester United, Burnley and Aston Villa get their seasons underway after sitting out the opening weekend of action, with two of those teams picking up vital wins and in the top game of the weekend, Liverpool answered a number of critics with a superb 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Sadio Mane grabbing a brace of goals in the game.
So, if the goalfest that was last weekend in the Premier League has tempted you into enjoying a bet or two on this weekend’s matches, then you may need to find a site that offers superb betting on the competition throughout the year. The place you need to start for that is with the latest bet365 Sport New Player Bonus, which can see you earn up to £100 in bet credits once you sign up and start betting with the site.

Seven teams are yet to pick up a point, Burnley, Manchester United, West Ham, Sheffield United, Fulham, Southampton and West Brom.
Strangely, despite 18 games being played in the league, not one match has finished in a draw. Away teams have won 11 of those games with home teams being victorious on the other seven occasions.

- 5.30pm – West Brom v Chelsea
- 8.00pm – Burnley v Southampton
The opening game of the weekend sees Man Utd head to Brighton on the back of a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace and knowing nothing less than a win against a Brighton side, who thumped Newcastle 3-0 last weekend, will do. The pressure is already on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer here and this should be a very interesting game to kick off the weekend.
In the other games, two 100% records will be tested as Crystal Palace face Everton, while Burnley and Southampton will both be looking to pick up their first win and points of the new season in the evening game. West Brom will hope they can do the same against a Chelsea side that will be stung by their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at home last weekend.

- 4.30pm – Manchester City v Leicester City
- 7.00pm – West Ham United v Wolves
Sunday’s games begin with a feisty Yorkshire derby as Sheffield United take on Leeds at Bramhall Lane in what should be a fantastic clash of styles between Chris Wilder and Marcelo Bielsa’s attack-minded Leeds side who have been involved in two 4-3 games already this season. This is followed by another cracking game as Newcastle seek to react to a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton by battling Spurs, for whom Son grabbed four goals as they routed Southampton 5-2 last week.
The big game of the afternoon sees Manchester City take on the team top of the table at present in Leicester City with the home side seeking to match their main rivals for the title by picking up two wins from two in their opening fixtures, though Leicester look well set to give them a real game. The evening clash sees struggling West Ham face off against a Wolves side who were defeated 3-1 by Man City last Monday night.
Our Tips for Sunday’s quartet of Premier League fixtures –
- Sheff Utd v Leeds Utd – Leeds to win and both teams to score – 7/2

Monday 28th September

The remaining two fixtures take place on Monday night and in the opener, two of the teams amongst the favourites for the drop, Fulham and Aston Villa clash at Craven Cottage with the home side looking to pick up their first points of the new season, while a win for Villa will see them pick up six from six in this their second game of the season.
This is followed by the biggest game of the weekend as Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, who beat Liverpool in the Premier League last season and also snatched the Charity Shield on penalties, take on the Champions at Anfield as both sides seek to make it nine points from nine available in the season so far.
Monday night football tips –
