It has been an incredible summer of transfer activity in the Premier League, with all the top teams making some major moves in the pre-season, reshaping their squads for the new season ahead.
The 2022/23 season will be a strange one. Not only are we starting the season a little earlier than usual, but we are also breaking for just over a month for the World Cup Finals in Qatar from November, which means that the Champions League and other European competitions have all been moved forward in the calendar in this first half of the season.
As a result of this, we now have a very busy first half of the campaign through to mid-November, especially for teams involved in Europe and it may well be this that has seen a number of teams making some big changes to their squads.
Of course, it is also an exciting time for punters too, with many set to make their selections for a number of outright winner markets for the season ahead. Weβll do that too later in the article, giving you some top tips to consider for the forthcoming season, with odds provided as always by bet365 Sport.
With the Community Shield now in the history books, we have a whole season to look forward to and before we take a look at some top bets, letβs take a look at some of the biggest transfers made over the course of the post-season both in England and around the world.

As you can see, with so many top players already on the move, and transfer rumours swirling about several more from the top teams across Europe being targeted, it has been a very busy summer for the top teams, but how have these moves affected our tips for the major bets in the Premier League this season?
Letβs take a closer look and find out.

Premier League Outright Winner
- Our Pick β Manchester City β 8/13
- Others to Consider β Liverpool β 5/2
Of course, who wins the Premier League is always a very popular bet with punters at this time of the year and according to the betting odds, it looks a two-horse race again between Manchester City and Liverpool.
Both teams have sold and released more players than they have brought in, with both making just three signings in the pre-season so far. Both have also signed a big number 9, Haaland for City and Nunez for Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see how these slot into the respective teams.
However, it is hard to imagine Erling Haaland not having huge success. The amount of chances City create, combined with his incredible individual scoring record, means that if they gel as many expect, City could well be the team to beat again this season.
Liverpool stand the best chance of usurping them if they donβt quite hit it off and the Reds have better strength in depth, something which may be key as we progress through the season, but for me, City is the pick here, and Liverpool the only viable other choice.
Premier League To Finish In Top 4
- Our Picks β Man City β 1/33, Liverpool – 1/8, Tottenham – 4/6, Arsenal 7/4
- Others to Consider β Man Utd – 6/4, Chelsea 4/6.
We know Manchester City and Liverpool are our top two picks for the title race, and for me it is down to four teams as to who finishes in the Champions League qualification places.
I think Spurs have made real strides this off season with some solid signings and if they can hold onto Harry Kane, I think they are a lock for third.
The race for fourth will be tighter with Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal all in the race and while I originally went with Chelsea, I do feel their squad is light in attack and at the moment, I think Arsenal are the top choice of those three sides to perhaps steal fourth spot.
Premier League β Relegation
- Our Picks β Nottm Forest β 6/5, Bournemouth β 4/9, Southampton β 3/1
- Others to Consider β Leeds Utd β 9/4, Everton β 10/3, Fulham β 5/4
Who goes down from the Premier League is always an interesting market and promoted teams do tend to struggle and I think both Forest and Bournemouth are the two teams most likely to struggle the most and be relegated at the end of the season.
As for who joins them, I think Everton are in a very precarious position but for me Southampton look to be in a bit of a mess. I canβt see anyone in attack to score enough goals for them, and their defence is not the best. I think Everton just stay afloat and it will be the Saints who drop into the Championship come next season.
