Yes, it is. For those in the know, the 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar from 21 November through until 18 December. As many Premier League players will be representing their nation, there’ll be a pause in the Premier League, with the last match pre-break taking place on 13 November and the first match post-break on 26 December.

In 2022-23, teams can make five substitutions during game or half time. This brings the Premier League in line with its six main European counterparts (Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, La Liga and Serie A).
Up to this point, just three subs have been allowed. So this is a substantial increase.

In total, 20 teams will take part in the Premier League 2022-23. That’s the top 17 teams from the Premier League 2021-22 and the three top teams from the Championship.
