After a short break from the 24th to the 26th December inclusive, the 2021 PDC World Darts Championship is back underway at the Alexandra Palace in London. We already previewed the tournament last week, but since then a great deal has happened in the first three rounds of matches, with some stellar names exiting the tournament, and a bunch of new players making a name for themselves.
In this article, we are going to give you a recap of how the Round 3 games that have been played have gone so far, together with a look ahead to the remaining games in Round 3 coming up this week, as well as the games in Round 4 that have already been decided and we will also update our tip on who we think looks likely to claim the title on January 3rd 2021.
There’s still plenty of action to enjoy as we head into the New Year and beyond and the latter stages of the PDC World Darts Championship and if you would like to get involved in the betting available on the tournament and the individual games and need to join a site that offers extensive options for both, then the best place to start is with the current bet365 Welcome Bonus for new customers.

The same site also offers a great choice of bets for punters that sign up from Indiana too, only from this state you can use a different bonus code; this is the latest BetRivers Affiliate Code “HOOSIERBONUS” and if you use it when you sign up and deposit you can get a special offer for citizens of the Hoosier State.
Lastly, in a number of other states that allow sports betting you can find plenty of darts betting at the latest DraftKings Online Sportsbook service too.
Let’s now take a look at some of the key results and huge shocks that have taken place in Round 3 of the tournament so far, as well as previewing some of the big games that lie ahead in the rest of Round 3 and into Round 4 which will start later this week.
PDC World Darts Championship Round 3 Results So Far
- Kryzyztof Ratajski 4-0 Simon Whitlock
- Ryan Searle 4-2 Kim Huybrechts
- Dmitri Van Den Bergh 4-0 Jermaine Watamena
- Joe Cullen 4-3 Jonny Clayton
- Gabriel Clemens 4-3 Peter Wright
- Michael van Gerwen 4-0 Ricky Evans
- Mervyn King 4-0 Jose de Sousa
With seven of the Round 3 games in the bag, there are a further nine games to be completed in the third round. However, the biggest shock of the tournament so far has occurred in this round with Peter Wright, the defending champion and second seed, being eliminated by 31st seed Gabriel Clemens from Germany.
Wright joins the likes of Michael Smith, Rob Cross and Ian White as being a top ten seeded player that has been despatched from the tournament early.
At the other end of the scale, international qualifier Danny Baggish from the United States remains in the tournament, albeit he has his third round game to play, while the likes of Adam Hunt, Jason Lowe, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Ryan Searle have all shone as non-seeded players.
Round 3 Games To Be Played
- Adam Hunt v Dirk van Duijvenbode
- James Wade v Stephen Bunting
- Jason Lowe v Devon Petersen
- Gary Anderson v Mensur Suljovic
- Glen Durrant v Danny Baggish
- Gerwyn Price v Brendan Dolan
- Nathan Aspinall v Vincent van der Voort
- Daryl Gurney v Chris Dobey
- Dave Chisnall v Danny Noppert
There remain a number of eye-catching third round games to enjoy including Gary Anderson v Mensur Suljovic which for many is the tie of the round. James Wade takes on Stephen Bunting which has the potential to be another great game, while Danny Baggish’s good form will see him in confident mood ahead of his game against three-time BDO World Champion Glen Durrant.
For me the very interesting game is Daryl Gurney v Chris Dobey between two players who despite being separated by a fair amount in the seedings, are of a similar ability and this could be a game that goes either way depending on the form of one of the players.
PDC World Darts Championship Round 4 Confirmed Games
The Fourth Round is beginning to take shape now and the following games are confirmed.
- Michael van Gerwen v Joe Cullen
- Gabriel Clemens v Kryzsztof Ratajski
- Chisnall/Noppert v Dmitri Van den Bergh
- Lowe/Petersen v Anderson/Suljovic
- Van Duijvenbode/Hunt v Durrant/Baggish
- Wade/Bunting v Ryan Searle
- Price/Dolan v Mervyn King
- Aspinall/van der Voort v Gurney/Dobey
While the first game has gone with the seeds, the second game is a great opportunity for either Clemens or Ratajski to reach their first World Championship Quarterfinals. Ryan Searle will be looking for a similar outcome in his game with either Wade or Bunting, while Mervyn Kings fine form will be tested against third seed Gerwyn Price or Brendan Dolan.
Who has looked the most likely to win the PDC World Darts Championship 2021?
There’s been plenty of money for Michael van Gerwen who is now the 11/10 favourite with bet365 to win the tournament and it is hard to bet against that. However, my tip Dmitri van den Bergh has come in from 18/1 to 8/1 to win the tournament on the back of a couple of fine performances in the second and third round and he is still my tip to win it outright.
Sandwiched between the two is third-seed Gerwyn Price who is an 11/2 shot with bet365 Sport.
