Here’s our tips for some of the big games in the Champions and Europa League this week.
Champions League
Tuesday 1st October
- Atalanta v Shakhtar Donetsk – Home Win – 4/5
- Juventus v Bayer Leverkusen – Home Win – 1/2
- Lokomotiv Moscow v Atletico Madrid – Away Win 8/13
- Red Star Belgrade v Olympiakos – Home Win 2/1
- Tottenham v Bayern Munich – Draw 13/5

A lot of the Tuesday night games in the Champions League heavily favour one side over the other, so I have tried to pick the more even games and then just added a couple of the games that seem to have one obvious winner in them.
In this selection those two games are Juventus against Bayer Leverkusen, where I am expecting a comfortable home win for the Italians and also Atletico Madrid’s trip to Lokomotiv Moscow, where I feel the Spanish side should be confident of victory.
Added to that, I have backed Atalanta to be much stronger at home than they were on the road in Zagreb and I am backing them to beat Shakhtar Donetsk in Italy. I also feel on home soil Red Star Belgrade should be good enough to get the win over Olympiakos, a Greek side that tend not to travel too well in European competition.
This leaves my final selection which is the big game of the night between Tottenham and Bayern Munich. I am backing this one to end in a draw as I feel that both teams should cancel each other out over the 90 minutes.
Back the fivefold accumulator listed above with bet365 at the prices stated above and you can get odds of 46.1/1 on the bet. This means that a ÂŁ10 bet would see you win ÂŁ461, plus you would also get your ÂŁ10 stake money back.
Wednesday 2nd October
- Genk v Napoli – Away Win – 2/5
- Slavia Prague v Borussia Dortmund – Draw – 11/4
- Lille v Chelsea – Away Win – Evens
- Valencia v Ajax – Draw – 13/5
- Zenit St Petersburg v Benfica – Home Win – 5/4
There’s a bit more evenness to the games taking place on Wednesday in the Champions League and as a result the odds offered on this accumulator with bet365 is markedly higher than Tuesday’s games which favour one side in particular.
I can see Napoli winning their second game of the group stage away to a rather poor Genk side and I think another away winner, although less convincing, will likely be Chelsea as they take on Lille in the north of France.
I have also backed a couple of draws here, Dortmund, who have under-achieved a little this season, face a very tricky trip to Slavia Prague, who held Inter in the San Siro in their opening game, while I also feel Ajax should pick up a point from their trip to Valencia.
Lastly, with Benfica stuttering at home in their opening game, I feel they will be up against it in a much colder Russia and against a Zenit St Petersburg side that have plenty of experience and no fair amount of talent too.
If you decide to place a ÂŁ10 bet on this fivefold accumulator bet with bet365 Sport, then you would receive offs of 84.05/1. That means a ÂŁ10 bet would see you land ÂŁ840.50 in winnings, plus you would also get your stake returned too.
Europa League
Thursday 3rd October – 5.55pm Kick Offs
- FC Astana v Partizan Belgrade – Draw – 11/5
- AZ Alkmaar v Man Utd – Home Win – 23/10
- Besiktas v Wolves – Draw – 23/10
- CSKA Moscow – Espanyol – Home Win – 21/20
- Young Boys v Rangers – Home Win – 10/11

The early games do have some very even contest and as such, this is a very difficult selection of games to predict accurately, but the flip side of that is that you are going to get fantastic odds for this particular accumulator bet.
I can see Astana and Partizan Belgrade drawing as they seem to be well matched and while Partizan are the better team, it is a very long trip for them to endure. I feel Man Utd could come unstuck on the road against an AZ Alkmaar team that are no mugs at all, but I do feel Wolves will be good enough to take a point from their trip to Besiktas.
I’ve gone for home wins for CSKA Moscow (against Espanyol) and also for the experienced and talented Young Boys, who face Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in Switzerland this week. It is going to be a big ask I feel for Rangers to get anything from this trip.
Back this early evening Europa League acca with bet365 Sport and you would get odds of 135.38/1, which means a ÂŁ10 stake would return you a huge ÂŁ1353.80, plus your stake money back.
Thursday 3rd October – 8pm Kick Offs
- Arsenal v Standard Liege – Home Win – 1/3
- Celtic v CFR Cluj – Home Win – 1/2
- Krasnodar v Getafe – Home Win – 31/20
- Rosenborg v PSV Eindhoven – Away Win – 4/5
- Sporting Lisbon v LASK Linz – Home Win – 8/11
The later selection of games seems to have more games that tend to be favouring one of the teams competing and as a result, the odds on these selections are not as juicy as they are for the selections available for the earlier kick off games.
I’m going with Arsenal and Celtic to record home wins. I can’t see Arsenal having too much trouble against Standard Liege, but Celtic are a worry as they face a team that did beat them in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League earlier in the season, a 4-3 win in Glasgow. However, I expect the home side to gain revenge for that loss to Cluj.
The other games sees some interesting matches and I feel the Russian side Krasnodar should be able to get a result against Getafe, while I have gone for two big European names to claim wins in the shape of PSV Eindhoven (who face Rosenborg) and Sporting Lisbon who take on LASK Linz at home in Portugal.
This later evening acca in the Europa League is a shorter odds bet as it returns at 14.85/1 with bet365 Sport. This means a £10 bet would see you land £148.50 in winnings, plus you’d get your stake returned to you too.
