Men’s Singles
More so than recent years, the margins for betting in the Men’s Singles are absolutely razor-thin this year. The “Big Four” have won the past 14 Wimbledon titles between them and it’s not really worth looking outside the group for bets.
Roger Federer is unsurprisingly the current favourite, and can be backed at 9/4 to win his eighth Wimbledon singles title. This would break the record he currently holds with Pete Sampras, giving him the most Wimbledon championships in history.
Rafael Nadal at 9/2 is the second-favourite, but it has been seven years since he last lifted the trophy.
Defending champion Andy Murray is found at 10/3 and will be looking for his third title and first back-to-back Wimbledon victory, putting him on equal footing with Novak Djokovic; the Serbian is 6/1.
Women’s Singles
Tennis bettors looking for value in the Women’s Singles will find things much more up in the air.
Karolina Pliskova is the favourite to claim her first title, valued at 9/2 and followed closely by Petra Kvitova at 5/1. Garbine Muguruza at 10/1 is the third favourite, though Kvitova is the only one of these three with any Wimbledon titles to her name.
A British bonanza?
Andy Murray’s 2013 victory marked the first time in the Open Era that a British player had won the title, and it has been 83 years since British champions saw victory in both the singles events.
However, with Murray at 10/3 and his fellow Brit Johanna Konta fourth-favourite in the Women’s Singles, a Murray-Konta double seems conceivable – this bet can be had for 55/1.
