Last weekend in the Premier League was another exciting one with goals galore across the ten games and some stellar performances. Top marks go to Manchester City for their, admittedly expected, 6-1 demolition of Huddersfield Town, while Brighton provided the biggest upset of the weekend with a sensational and richly deserved 3-2 victory at home to Manchester United.
There are now six teams left in the Premier League with a 100% win record of two wins from two following Matchday Two and in an ominous warning for the rest of the Premier League, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are amongst that sextet of teams.
Liverpool are the only team not to have conceded a goal in either of their two games this season, while Cardiff City are the only team yet to find the back of the net in their two games, although they have picked up a point following a 0-0 draw with Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime.

Premier League Matchday 3 Preview and Tips
Let’s now take a look at the Full Time Result odds from bet365 for the weekend’s Premier League ties.
*Odds correct with bet365 Sport as of 3pm on Tuesday 21st August 2018
Here’s our tips on how we feel each of the ten games this weekend will go.
- Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester City – Away Win
It’s fair to say Manchester City have continued very much where they left off last season and not even Kevin de Bruyne’s injury has stopped them. Wolves have enjoyed a decent start but they’ll discover just how far they have to go if their aim of winning the Premier League title within seven years is to be achieved. City should win this one and I’d bet that they win it by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline.
- Southampton v Leicester City – Draw
I’ve said it already this season that I am not convinced Mark Hughes appointment was the right call at Southampton and I think their disappointing start to the season kind of emphasises that. Leicester bounced back from a decent showing at Old Trafford to beat Wolves last week and I don’t think they’ll go back to the King Power empty handed here, even minus the suspended Jamie Vardy. I think this one has a 1-1 scoreline written all over it.
- Arsenal v West Ham United – Home Win
Neither of these sides has picked up a point yet this season and that will worry both new managers. Arsenal at least showed some fight away at Chelsea despite going down to a 3-2 defeat, but West Ham do look like a side that has been thrown together at the last minute and I do fear for Manuel Pellegrini’s team here as I think they could face a backlash here. Arsenal to win here and I think they’ll win big by a 3-0 or even greater scoreline.
- Bournemouth v Everton – Away Win
I’ve been very impressed with both these teams this season. Bournemouth started last season with two defeats, but have turned that into two wins this time around, while Everton have four points from their two games. Form dictates Bournemouth here, but I just don’t think the Cherries are that consistent, especially against the better sides and as such, I am backing Everton to win this one narrowly either 1-0 or more likely 2-1.
- Huddersfield Town v Cardiff City – Home Win
David Wagner will be under no illusions here as to the task facing his Huddersfield team after two very tough opening games have left them bottom of the table. They now face Cardiff, who are yet to score this season, but who do have one point following their 0-0 draw with Newcastle. I expect Neil Warnock’s men to make this tough but I am backing Huddersfield to get a much needed win by a 1-0 scoreline here.
- Liverpool v Brighton – Home Win
Liverpool are yet to concede a goal in the Premier League this season and will be confident of earning three points against a Brighton side they beat 4-0 at Anfield at the tail end of last season. Brighton however come into this game in confident mood having beaten Manchester United 3-2 last weekend. This will be tougher for the Reds than most people are expecting but I think eventually they will run out winners by a 3-0 scoreline.
- Watford v Crystal Palace – Draw
Watford have begun the season very brightly with two wins over Brighton and Burnley and they face a Crystal Palace side who lost on Monday to Liverpool. That said, I think Roy Hodgson’s team look a very solid outfit and while Watford started well, I am not convinced they are the real deal. I expect Palace to give them a stern test here and for this one to end in a competitive 2-2 draw.
- Fulham v Burnley – Draw
Both these teams will probably be disappointed with the start they have made. Fulham have shown some worrying defensive frailties in both their games so far, losing both, while Burnley were made to pay by Watford at Turf Moor last time out losing 3-1. As such, I can see this being a game where both managers will be intent on not losing the game, rather than securing the win and as such, I think a 0-0 draw is a likely outcome here.
- Newcastle United v Chelsea – Away Win
Newcastle worked hard for their point at Cardiff last weekend but it could have been three had Kenedy not missed a penalty right at the end of the game. However, they face a Chelsea team with two wins from two and who looked excellent in both games at times, although against Arsenal there was a period when they looked woeful defensively. This should be close but I think Chelsea will squeak the win here by a 2-1 scoreline.
- Manchester United v Tottenham – Draw
The final game of the weekend takes place on Monday night and is a huge game for both sides. Manchester United need to bounce back from their shock defeat to Brighton last time out, while Spurs will want three points to keep up their 100% start to the season. Spurs don’t have a great record at Old Trafford but by the same token, all is not well at United and I think there are real worries about them defensively. That said, I don’t see Spurs winning here, but I can see this finishing in a battling 1-1 draw.
