With the shortened 2020/2021 season, this means that we have the somewhat enticing prospect of Champions League and Europa League games on consecutive weeks and after last week’s action, which was a particularly good week for British teams in Europe, we have another set of games across both competitions this week.
In this article, we are going to take a look at the big games in both competitions taking place across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, some of which involved the top British teams and others which do not involve any British sides.
If you want to have a wager on the outcome of these games and you are not yet a member of a betting site that offers extensive Champions League and Europa League betting, then you should take a look at the current bet365 New Player Bonus offer available right now to get yourself signed up ahead of the kick off of tonight’s games.

Let’s now take a look at some of the big games coming up this week in European competition and give you our top tips for each across a number of different markets. All games shown below are 8pm Kick off time unless otherwise stated.
Champions League
Tuesday 27th October
- Liverpool v Midtjylland
After a solid start away to Ajax, Liverpool will be wanting a good home performance and another three points here against a side who lost 4-0 at home to Atalanta last week. The Reds should get it, even with Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk a long-term absentee.
Top Bets
- Liverpool to win – 1/6
- Liverpool to win to nil – 11/10
- Mohamed Salah to score first and Liverpool to win 3-0 – 14/1.
- Marseille v Manchester City
City came back from a goal down to beat FC Porto last week but they are still not quite firing on all cylinders and they have had issued against French sides in recent years in this competition. Marseille could be a tough nut for them to crack especially at their home ground.
Top Bets
- Marseille v Manchester City to be a draw – 41/10
- Correct Score – Marseille 1-1 Manchester City – 9/1
- Anytime Goalscorer – Raheem Sterling (Man City) – 4/5
Wednesday 28th October
- Krasnodar v Chelsea (5.55pm)
All teams in this group drew their opening game, so a win here for either side would be a big result and I do fancy Chelsea to get it, even despite their somewhat lacking form in recent times and too many drawn games in the Premier League in particular.
Top Bets
- Chelsea to win – 2/5
- Correct Score – Chelsea to win 2-1 – 7/1
- Anytime Goalscorer – Timo Werner (Chelsea) – 4/5
- Juventus v Barcelona
One of the biggest games in Europe of any season, and the final of this tournament in 2015, two of the biggest names in Europe clash in Turin after both making solid starts to their Champions League campaigns last week, albeit against the backdrop of inconsistent league form for both teams.
Top Bets
- Juventus to win – 7/4
- Correct Score – Juventus 2-1 Barcelona – 9/1
- Anytime Goalscorer – Alvaro Morata (Juventus) 6/4
- Manchester United v Red Bull Leipzig
After a superb win over PSG in Paris last week, another win at home here to Red Bull would put United in pole position in the group, Red Bull are not as strong this season as they were last and while they will put up a battle and be dangerous on the counter, I expect United to win this one too.
Top Bets
- Manchester United to win – 13/10
- Correct Score – Manchester United to win 2-1 – 8/1
- Anytime Goalscorer – Edinson Cavani to score Anytime – 13/8
Europa League
Thursday 29th October
- AEK Athens v Leicester City (5.55pm)
The Foxes made a solid start in this tournament with a 3-0 win last week at home to Zorya Luhansk. AEK are one of the better sides in Greece, but I don’t think they have the quality that Leicester possess. They are decent defensively, but I still feel Leicester will do enough to pinch a win.
Top Bets
- Leicester to win – 7/10
- Correct Score – Leiceter City to win 1-0 – 6/1
- First Goalscorer – Jamie Vardy – 11/4
- Royal Antwerp v Tottenham (5.55pm)
Tottenham and Royal Antwerp made good starts in this competition last week but this is a real test for the Belgian side against a team that has arguably the most in form attack across Europe at the moment, if they play. Even if they don’t Spurs should have enough to win this game.
Top Bets
- Tottenham to win – 8/15
- Correct Score – Tottenham to win 2-1 – 15/2
- Anytime Goalscorer – Gareth Bale (Tottenham) – 13/10
- Lille v Celtic (5.55pm)
It doesn’t get any easier for Celtic as after losing last week to the top team in Serie A, they now face the team that is sitting at the top of the table in France in the early weeks of the season. Lille are a quality team and I expect them to go far in this competition starting with a win here.
Top Bets
- Lille to win the game – 8//13
- Correct Score – Lille to beat Celtic – 3-1 – 12/1
- Anytime Goalscorer – Neto Luiz Araujo (Lille) – 13/8
- Arsenal v Dundalk
After a good win on the road last week, Arsenal should find this game against Dundalk pretty much a formality, with the Irish side only likely to put up a token resistance against what will likely be a much-changed Arsenal side. Even so the Gunners should win this handsomely.
Top Bets
- First Goalscorer – Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal) – 10/3
- Asian Handicap – Arsenal -3.0 goals – Even Money
- Exact Total Goals – 5 Goals – 5/1
- Rangers v Lech Poznan
A fantastic win away to Standard Liege kick started Rangers in their tough group in the Europa League and I think they can add a further three points here in what is a tricky home game against decent Polish opponents. Even so, Rangers good form makes them the favourites here I feel.
Top Bets
- Rangers to win – 8/15
- Rangers to win and both teams to score – 7/4
- Anytime Goalscorer – Ianis Hagi (Rangers) – 7/4
- Real Sociedad v Napoli
Perhaps the best game in the Europa League this week, Napoli’s shock loss to AZ67 last week means they must pick up a result here from a very tricky trip to Sociedad, with the Spanish side one of the leading lights in La Liga this season so far.
Top Bets
- Match Result – Draw – 23/10
- Correct Score – Real Sociedad 1-1 Napoli – 11/2
- Anytime Goalscorer – Dries Mertens (Napoli) – 13/8
