The 2022/23 World Darts Championships take place just when much of the world is celebrating Christmas and other seasonal holidays. It takes place from Thursday 15 December, with the first matches starting at 19:00 GMT.
There’s a brief break in proceedings while all contenders get to go have their Christmas dinners (pause in play from 24 through 26 December inclusive), and another on the 31 December. Then they’re back at it again for more thrilling dart throwing.
Then the action culminates in the nail-biting final, which occurs on Tuesday, 3 January. Action starts there from 20:00 GMT, so it’s well worth watching if you can catch it.
Where are the Championships held?
The Championships are held in Alexandra Palace, London. This is an iconic London venue and has been since 1863. As well as holding the World Darts Championship, this venue is also the stage for large scale broadcasts and performances of all kinds, including big name gigs, the Brit Awards and much more besides.
What prizes are up for grabs?
Perhaps the most coveted prize of all, is the chance to hold the Sid Waddell Trophy aloft. This is the symbol of World Darts Championship triumph and to take it home is a huge deal.
